Three Decades of Proven Delivery

Every great project starts somewhere.

For 30 years, ATS has been there from the beginning.

Not the cities. Not the easy places.

But in the remote environments where distance, complexity and logistics shape every decision. From exploration camps that would later become some of Africa’s largest mining operations, to remote energy and industrial sites, ATS has spent three decades creating environments that enable businesses – and the people behind them – to thrive.

Changing capability

Founded in Ghana in 1996 as a specialist camp catering provider, ATS supported exploration teams working in remote locations where reliable services were essential to keeping projects moving. Over time, ATS broadened its capabilities beyond catering to support every stage of a remote operation, from developing essential infrastructure to delivering the day-to-day services that keep sites safe, efficient and productive. Temporary camps became established communities and short-term assignments became long-term partnerships.

Today, that same spirit of adaptability continues to define the business.

Changing expectations

The role of remote site services has fundamentally changed. Across Africa, investment in critical minerals, energy and industrial development continues to accelerate, bringing increasingly complex projects into more remote and demanding locations. What’s more, success is no longer measured solely by what is built, but by how quickly projects become productive, resilient and sustainable. Today’s developments are expected to move from concept to delivery more efficiently, perform from day one and create lasting value long after construction is complete.

The greatest challenge is rarely securing investment. It is turning ambitious projects into successful, fully functioning environments. As such, once viewed as support functions, remote site solutions have become central to operational success, helping organisations create safe, efficient and resilient environments while strengthening workforce well-being, local procurement and long-term sustainability.

Changing communities

For ATS, success has never been measured only by what happens on site.

It is also measured by what happens beyond it.

Recognising this, ATS established the Legacy Programme in 2007, working alongside host communities to create benefits that extend well beyond the life of a project. Rather than applying one-size-fits-all solutions, the programme is built around listening to local priorities and responding with practical initiatives that empower businesses, develop skills and create lasting partnerships.

As of the end of last year, the ATS Legacy Programme had delivered more than 4,000 community initiatives across Africa. It has also helped certify more than 1,800 local suppliers, with 61% of community-based suppliers being women-led businesses, enhancing local economies while improving the resilience of project supply chains.

Because the best projects don’t simply operate within communities, they become part of them.

Changing boundaries

Thirty years isn’t the finish line; it’s proof that we’re ready for what’s next.

As ATS strengthens its presence across Africa and expands into strategically aligned international markets, we remain focused on delivering the integrated expertise and operational excellence that have defined our business for three decades.

The future will belong to organisations that combine technology with practical experience, global capability with local knowledge and innovation with the agility to adapt.

The places may change. The industries will evolve. Technology will advance. But ATS will continue shaping the next generation of remote operations.
