Training and Standards
Team AtsATS Health and Safety Department is responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace. We have tried and tested systems for ensuring that both occupational health and safety as well as food safety is maintained to the highest possible standards.
Under the supervision of a Group Manager, the ATS health and safety team is well trained and dedicated; they continue to keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry and receive continuous training in IRCA accredited courses for food safety & occupational safety management.
Each ATS Project unit has a dedicated Health and Safety Officer; He is assisted by the health and safety representatives who forward issues raised at the workplace to the management for action. The H & S reps meet with the H & S officer weekly to follow up on issues raised as well as to carry out brief training sessions. The H & S team is also responsible for training all staff on food safety and occupational health and safety.
ATS is currently in the process of upgrading our food safety management systems to meet the new ISO 22000:2005 food safety management system. This is the new internationally accepted standard for food safety systems and ATS is currently implementing this system in some of our sites.
ATS is totally committed to health and safety, a commitment that is well demonstrated by making ATS the first catering company in East, Central and West Africa to be certified by an accredited body for the implementation of a HACCP food safety system. Our systematic food safety training program, complete with a school and tutors continues to strengthen our commitment in this area.
